The course is designed to provide an overview of the fiscal policy in India and the linkages in inter-governmental finances. It covers basic understanding of fiscal policy instruments, budgets, debt management, and their overlap with monetary policy. Sessions on revenue and expenditure management deal with medium term revenue and expenditure strategy, both at the central and state level. Some sessions cover general issues including on off-budget borrowings, tax reforms, debt sustainability, tools for macro-monitoring and project management, social sector expenditure, pensions and subsidies. Other sessions focus on contemporary and topical issues of green and gender accounting, regulatory reforms, business cycles and measure of development. The course is relevant for mid-career officials to get an overview on evolution of good practices for fiscal policy management.

NIPFP is organizing a 2-weeks Refresher Training Programme in Public Finance from 5th – 16th June for University and College Teachers and faculty in research institutions.The programme will be held at NIPFP, New Delhi and all lodging, boarding facilities will be provided by the institute, as per norms.
