The conference focussed on the issue of green and inclusive development which doesn’t leave out marginalized communities, and does not cause further damage to our planet. The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals as well as growing concern over climate change has given a renewed impetus to the idea of sustainable and inclusive development. The conference was held on behalf of the Indo-German Expert Group on Green and Inclusive Economy.

NIPFP was represented at the conference by Dr. Rita Pandey, Professor and Dr. Rathin Roy, Director, both members of the Indo-German Expert Group on Green and Inclusive Economy (IGEG), who made active contributions during the event, esp. in the panel discussion in the closing and opening sessions, respectively.

“The world today is moving towards a greener and sustainable economy but the major obstacle towards achieving sustainable development is lack of adequate of finance to support green technologies. The international business and financial community needs to be taken into confidence and taken on board. Global savings last year amounted to nearly 7.5 trillion dollars and a green and inclusive economy will require approximately 4 trillion dollars. It’s necessary to have standing conference on global finance allocation,” said Dr. Rathin Roy at the conference.
